Logistics rates are variable and will be determined by a wide variety of parameters dependent on country, port, port agent, shipping company, vessel, container type, exchange rates, global ancillary rates, delivery address. In addition, the shipping rates change on a quarterly basis for very supplier and every client. Occasionally, interim shipping rates are introduced too.
Given this background, without a centralised solution, your staff may be managing their own individual sets of shipping rates for suppliers and clients, consistency and accuracy of data and format will therefore be practically impossible. Production of quotes can also be extremely time consuming. In addition, providing historical information to clients regarding supply chains may also be time consuming and may not be used in negotiating future work with the clients and suppliers.
